John Driskell Hopkins is a 3 time Grammy winner and co-founder of the Zac Brown Band. I met John in downtown Atlanta Georgia back in 1998. John was hosting a singer songwriter competition at a place called CJ's Landing. I competed for some cash and free studio time and come in second place to Zac Brown who at the time was just "that fuckin' guy". He won fair and square and as I went pack it up and head to the bar to spend my reward which was maybe 50.00 in Bar Bucks. In no form of currency, just John telling the bar tender to open a tab. John approached me after the players were done that night and said "Even though you didn't win the studio time, I like you, I like your music, I still want to record you... Maybe we can work something out.
He gave me a way to achieve way more than I could afford and he believed in the music I was writing and performing alone.
At that moment John became a mentor and a good friend of mine.
I've had many conversations, been to many shows, and visited several times with him over the years...
I went to him at a Zac Brown show back in 2017
aI told him that I'd been watching him recording his friends in his Attic in Marietta and I'd really like to get some more recording time with him???
John quickly answered, as though he had prepared for it and said "ONE SONG"

in 2019 I went to record that 1 song..

and this is that song
remastered in 2023
